    Using a C&R to buy a gift??

Quick question and if it has been addressed before forgive me. Is it ok to buy a C&R long arm with the intention of giving it away as a birthday gift or is that considered a "straw purchase" and therefore illegal??

Why would you consider it a a straw purchase if you plan on gifting it to someone who's legal to own the firearm? (assuming they are that is)....

The short answer is "no" it is not illegal.

C&R is cash and carry. as long as they are able to own a firearm, its perfectly legal. i have given C&R rifles to friends as bday gift.

Thanks for the quick answer, I suppose I used the wrong term with "straw purchase" which I guess means buying for someone who cant legally own a firearm. So I will just get it, log it into my book and log it out a few days later and everything is cool. Thanks

This is kind of a gray area, in my mind. I wouldn't do it very often. And you "sold" it to your friend for a few bucks because you had a line on a better example.
