I will throw out a wild guess that those 99,000 gun carcasses will generate enough useable parts to make 25K-35K sellable Garands.

Will be interesting to see. I've heard everything from they'll be a bunch of rusted out piles of junk to the Filipinos cherished their weapons and took excellent care of them

I would agree. I think the real victory here will be in the 60k stripped receivers. I have a BM59 kit just waiting for one.

From Shot Show, at about 2:28 Garand info starts . 86,000 Philippine and 13,000 Turkish returns

so the CMP got at least $43million worth of Garands from the PI, how much did it cost them?

The crates weren't termite proof; but the cosmoline drenched stocks might be!

The boards become abuzz with excitement.

Everyone chimes in that they have sent off their packet

Everyone chimes in that they received the DBU email.

Everyone chimes in that they have received a tracking number.

Everyone celebrates the arrival of the big brown van!!!!

Everyone posts their own personal milquetoast "Unboxing and first impressions" thread

                        But then..........

(Nearly) Everyone morphs from "New Garand owner" to "Freddie the Flipper" and posts their beloved new CMP Garands for sale for $1200 a few weeks later. They intend to corner the secondary market with huge margins because most people are just too dumb to figure out the CMP process and will gladly pay a huge markup for the convenience of a simple PPT.

Oh, and a few people will just grease their new rifles and start using up those hoarded cans of HXP in their garages.

                        But only a few.
The only Garand that I have parted with went to some strange guy in SoCal that was obsessed with SKSs at the time.

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
