    G41(W) rifle prices

In the market for a G41(W) rifle. What would someone pay for one of these? How much does a reproduction stock or non matching #'s affect prices? Thanks in advance.

I paid $5K for mine, it was a later-model, with no "W" pre-fix, Walther had won the contract and the "M" (Mauser) pre-fix was finished, the no pre-fix models are a little cheaper than the "W" marked G41s - seller had it listed for more, I offered less, he waited for three months and then called and we made a deal.
They are heavy and awkwardly balanced, and were the attempted solution to an impossible question.
A reproduction stock or non-matching lowers the value immensely - all these rifles have going for them is their collectable value - they are not shooters.

Is $3k for one with a repro stock but matching numbers too much?

Really depends, but you'll probably never find another G41 stock. I wouldn't pay 3k for it that's for sure...$5k honest matching original or $2k shooter, anything in between would annoy me and I'd be looking to replace it.

With that said, do you plan to shoot it?
        C&R nut.

          Hah - you are correct.

$3K will buy you a matching G43 - that will never be an issue to sell.

I'd probably shoot a few rounds then put it away. Based on your opinion, I suppose a repro stock wouldn't give it much of a collectors value later on down the road. I wouldn't mind spending $2K for a shooter in orig. config (non-sporterized, matching or not w/ repro stock), but haven't had any luck finding one in that range.

Careful there are some people here and on other boards that strictly buy G41s and part them out for profit.

I've got one that's all original sans barrel bands and barrel band spring (duffle cut victims) and one that's build with mostly original parts (incl. stock) around a matching barreled action with matching bolt group. The latter one cost me somewhere north of $2,000 but less than $3,000 to put together.

They are not bad shooters, actually very enjoyable, but cleaning is a nightmare due to all the junk that comes in contact with burned powder.
