CMP just sent emails with new and updated information and status regarding the 1911 Sales
They're saying that "three weeks ago facility requirements were changed, and we are now fulfilling those requirements."
When the new facilities are ready (60 days??) They will begin "inspection, grading, repair, and ultimately test firing of the pistols."
When they have sufficient number of 1911s ready for sales they will set an opening date for receiving orders. No orders will be accepted before this date. A new CMP 1911 order packet will be posted online when the order acceptance date is announced. All new documents will be required, even if you have ordered firearms from CMP before.
My wild and unreliable estimate is that we'll be sending in orders this Summer. Maybe August?? July??
Once they cut off receiving orders (10,000?) they will put everyone's name in a random selection computer and make a list in order of random selection.
No advantage to sending in your order before anyone else. Just get it in after the announced date and before they get 10,000.
When they work their way down to your name, you will get an email with 1911 Grades available and their prices. At that point you choose and order ONE Pistol.
California customers must receive their pistol at a FFL Dealer and complete the DROS process. This means two DROSes, one by CMP before they ship and one by the receiving Dealer.
No direct shipment to C&R FFL holders, all shipments through FFL Dealer.

The CMP has been authorized to receive 8,000 1911 type pistols from the United States Army.
