No 1 Mk III

I have a Gibbs reworked No 1 Mk III in 45/70. The CAD Technik won't work on this SMLE, I have an S & K "no d & t" but would like to have the thing drilled & tapped for a scope - it's not as though I'm screwing up any collector status. So what are my specific options?

Scout Mount for No.1 MkIII

You can mount a Weaver Tip Off mount. I think the model is TO-1.
I had one mounted on my No.1 MkIII. Works great. Might be able to
get one from gunaccessories.com or Brownells

I'm no expert on Gibbs modified no1 mkIII but it seems to me like they have quite a following in a nich market. It almost pains me to say this as a "purist" SMLE collector but they are probably becoming collectible in and of them selves. Just food for thought.

Actually I went with the Williams side mount, had to also buy their side mount plate for the #1 receiver. I guess I'll drop it off for the d & t by my gunsmith.

I've seen these go up a bit in price, but I figure I'll be long dead before they could be worth something and that maybe 100 years from now some guy will pick it up in the gun shop and say "Jeez, can you believe it - a Gibbs! But look what some momo did to it" ......
