    SKS Compliant inquiry

    Hi Folks In The Know,

    Does anyone have any idea if a Polytech Hunter SKS is Kali compliant?

    It has a proprietary 5 round mag, that detaches when you use the mag release lever. No other mags will work, because the mag well has a metal insert that prohibits any others from fitting. Basically a bayoless Paratrooper with a unique mag.

    I think you can take the guts out of the mag well and fit a stock fixed 10 or 5 rounder, but I'm not certain about that.

    Any thoughts or experience with one of these units? Thanks, PAX

      Trickster nailed it. Detachable mag of any kind on an SKS is a no go sadly.

        That's what I thought, capacity has no bearing. I have this link. Banned by name, "NORINCO HUNTER". Thanks, PAX

          My .02;
          if you can affix a 10-rd mag, and assuming it's not on the banned by name list)& have it be detachable the way any other cali sks is configured, you could send in the cadoj form + whatever is the cost nowadays ($19?) & a pic to be compliant & be done with it.

              Even if OP could configure it with a fixed 5-10 round magazine? I'd think that would be even less "scary" things on the rifle than a stock SKS..ie no bayo... Sad... As bad as the gun roster banning any finish on a CZ 83 .380 cal pistol other than shiny blue because it wasn't sent in for "testing" and therefore is "unsafe"...whilst the shiny blue finish IS safe...
