Does Big5 have any in stock?
Or you willing to wait 90-120 days and meet the requirements of CMP?

It is easy to meet CMP requirements (join CRPA, get a C&R license or join 1 match)- and any rifle they have in stock usually gets to you within 1-2 weeks from when they receive your packet.

Plenty of lower grade carbines and std. Garands available. CMP is the best deal on the planet for these. The 'low' grade carbines will likely be nicer than the AIM ones, with a simple swap of wood.

Those won't move fast at that price. You can still find mix master carbines for about $100 over what the CMP charges if you check out a couple forums. I've been trying to sell a very correct possibly original QHMC carbine with a muzzle wear of less than 1 for $1100 and that thing isn't moving.

Just 8 months ago I got mine in about 2 weeks (carbine). Probably depends what you order, but I've never had to wait more than 3 weeks for the CMP to deliver. I'm already in their system, so maybe part of the wait is to get you in?

I've made about a dozen orders from CMP and all of the took at least 3-4 weeks. Post Obama tripple that number. My order from Dec 1 came to me at the end fo February and I've read they are currently working on orders from abotu December 10th!! So according to what I've read on the CMP forums they are roughly 3 months behind.

Since November, CMP has been swamped with orders. They are currently working on orders from around December 10th. I've got an ammo order in from the end of January and am not expecting for another 2 months.

they are so backlogged, they are closing both retail stores until the end of the month so that they can have those employees help on the backlog.

They have sold out of LC 30-06 ammo, and what was a couple years supply of HXP ammo is going fast.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Out of curiosity, do these have new "dot-matrix" style numbers stamped on them?

If not, I can see the validity of the price. A lot of guys are asking these prices (and more) for Carbines, despite the CMP prices.

The Big 5 prices wouldn't actually be that big if:

                      A) The rifles were in better condition

                      and

                      B) They didn't have those stupid new numbers stamped on them...
