Help me identify an old pistol

Hi guys, wondering if someone can give me some more info on this pistol. It's been in my family since at least my great grandfather in Spain. It has "Fa YBARZABAL EN EIBAR" engraved on the top with a silver inlay. All of the parts are marked with a number 1, which I'm assuming is the serial number? From what I could find, Ybarzabal made firearms for a few hundered years. What kind of cartridge does it fire? What era would it be from? It used to be pretty rusty, but I cleaned it up and blued it, which screwed up the silver inlay. Before anyone lectures, I would rather have it looking nice than keep the "original look" on it, as I would never sell it. The bummer is there were a matching pair of shotguns that matched this pistol. A few years back on a a trip to Spain, I went to get them to bring them back and found that my Aunt had thrown them away Anyways, here are a few pics:

    Thanks

That is an old pinfire pistol. Check to see about what diameter the barrel is. There is a guy in Belgium that still makes reloadable cases for these. If you use black powder, and the gun is in reasonably good shape, it should still be shootable. Double barrel pinfires like this were the saturday night specials of the 19th century. They were produced in huge numbers in Europe and South America. They are not particularly strong or accurate. Nor are they usually that valuable. So have fun with it. Look for the guy selling cases on gunsamerica or gunbroker.

Thanks for the info. I'll look up getting some ammunition for it just to have, but I wouldn't really trust firing it with this thing. There's nothing in particular that screams dangerous like cracked metal or anything, but overall I just wouldn't feel confident that this thing would contain an explosion LOL.

      Thanks again
