Selling C&R

I have a c&r and question is when selling a c&r that was acquired before c&r I know it didnt need to be entered into my log book but does need to be logged when sold do I need to enter buyers info or is is entering the dros # good enough

If you sell a A C&R which you owned before you were licensed the proper procedure, is first enter it in your book on the acquisition side, and place the term "from personal collection" in the space where you would normally place the persons name whom you acquired it from. Then show on the disposition side who you sold it to.

Your C&R records are federal. a "DROS" number is a California based number which has no bearing on the sale and would not fulfill the Federal requirements.

If I were you I would list the FFL number of the shop who did the transfer, as well as the new buyers name and information on the disposition side. If you don't have the stores FFL number just list the shops name and address along with the new owners information.

The dealers name and address are listed on my sellers copy of the dros so isnt that sufficient and just keep it with log book

Look at your bound book or any of the federal regulations. Nowhere does it specify a "DROS" or other similar state information as what should be listed.

Don't over complicate a simply answer.

Just list the dealer, as well as the person who bought the firearm. It's just that simple.

ok got it but do i need the address of person who bought it or there name is good enough

The record shall show the date of the sale or other disposition of each firearm curio or relic, the name and address of the person to whom the firearm curio or relic is transferred, or the name and license number of the person to whom transferred if such person is a licensee, and the date of birth of the transferee if other than a licensee. In addition, the licensee shall cause the transferee, if other than a licensee, to be identified in any manner customarily used in commercial transactions (e.g., a driver's license), and note on the record the method used.
