Bought this parade garand at Little Johns Sunday

I have this listed as a poll in GENERAL GUN DISCUSSION.

Figured I would post the pics here as well

Heresy…or not? That is the question…..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when it comes to Garands there is a certain viral group of fanatics that looks upon even a compression dent removal as heresy.

I bought this Garand at an auction yesterday, and I like to, but was wondering just how much blow back I will get at the range!!

    So here is the poll…

I like it, should make an excellent addition to your collection and serves to promote the beauty of the Garand.

    I am ambivalent….

    But an it shoot????

The guy who did this to a perfectly good Garand should be hung and his offspring sterilized to insure such a thing never happens again…

Some people have more money than brains! You paid what for that????

    reserved for more pics

Here is a few more closer less washed out pics

It's a very simple easy engraving pattern and technique. I still like the way it looks, and the stock is flawless. Even the butt plate is engraved. Its a fully functioning garand.

When you take that to the range, be sure to wear the pink feathered fodora.

I like 'custom & different' and would have bought it as well...great find Bubba hope you got it for a 'reasonable' price and let us know how it shoots!

I posted in the other threat but I figured I'd mention in this one that I would have bought it if the price was right
but I have a feeling that right price for me is a lot lower than what you might have paid.

          That said,

          Congratulations!
any gun finding a home where it can be appreciated is a good thing in my opinion and don't forget to give us a range report with photos.

            Great find!

            Congrats on a unique find.

Any Color Guard or Veterans Memorial Honor Guard would be proud to own!

If its a shooter, even better. Keep us posted.

Cool Garand, especially if it shoots

Let me know when you go to the range and I'll bring my SKS

I steal SKS's!! Got a soft spot in my head for them. The cost of the garand was $1,000.00 which is $100.00 cheaper than a Cmp special, which I believe this garand started out as. So the bling was free.

                    Yeah I did

The evil grenade launcher had to be removed before coming in state

The one pictured was just a placeholder. I eventually found one of the old Tapco brakes that looks like the original GL

But yeah, muzzle brakes on sks, nothing new here and definitely not the first time. There was a big group buy on 59/66 a while back and many opted for a muzzle brake in lieu of a threaded barrel with nothing on it

Not bad. I thought it WAS the greade launcher at a quick glance. Fun rifles for sure.

I have a thread on trigger jobs for the sks. It's very easy to do and makes the gun way more shootable. You'd be surprised how easy it is to shorten the creep and pull on the sks.

I get the occasional crap for shooting a CMP Special .308 at the range. Good luck OP.

Took this gun to west end today. The wind was howling and the lighting wasn't great but the gun performed almost perfectly. The follower is a bit sticky and at times Bullets didn't load but that's an easy fix.

Accuracy wise it's just as good as my Cmp specials.

So we are good to go.
