    Second C&R Handgun

After picking up my first C&R hand gun a couple weeks ago and posting about it here the comments got me thinking hard about getting the one that was sitting next to it.

I hemmed and hawed about it and eventually the seller accepted an offer I couldn't refuse.

To go along with my Hartford 1927 I picked up this Sistema 1927 made at Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles (F.M.A.P.)

I think it is original finish but I welcome comments and observations if I'm wrong on that.

          Careful, they're like tribbles.

          Congrats on a beautiful piece!

Looks to be in very good shape, much better than most. The grips are not original, they should be black gutta percha as far as I know. Of course someone "high lighted" the markings. CAI import stamp on the trigger gaurd?

              Yeah trigger guard stamp

I've read mixed reports on the grips, seems they may have been issued with different types at different times

Yeah someone spent some time with some gold paint and a fine point brush, contemplating removal

Still a great find, it has been a long time since I have seen one that nice. Mine is about 20K higher in serial number. The early ones could have had wood grips, not sure all I have seen had the black rubber/plastic ones. I was going to modify mine but as they are getting collectable now, I have only done mods that are reversible. Even the magazine is serial numbered to the pistol. Got mine in the early 80's in "select grade" for $175. CAI stamps.. Back in the day Shotgun News was worth reading, the stuff that was cheap back then.

There are a ton of different types and models, I believe that DGFM was the Army models there were also Navy Marina and Air Force Furenza stamped ones as well as Police and Interior ones. Yours is a very early one probably when Colt folks were in Argentina getting the factory setup for production.

                    Nice score!

Here's mine with original black grips and blued finish:

Got it at FedOrd in So. El Monte, CA back in the 1980's they had stacks of them in various conditions some with slides so loose you'd think you could tip them off sideways! I went through 20-30 before I settled on one that looked nice (better than anything else they'd let me look at) and was tight. Been a safe queen for many years now!
