    Shiloh Sharps and Adobe Walls

A friend in Kansas bought some ancient bullets dug up by a rancher around Adobe Walls in the Texas panhandle. He gave me one and it's pictured here. I think Bat Masterson cast this bullet at the settlement before the battle (yeah, right!). Rifle is my .45-70 Shiloh Sharps Model 3 with half octagon barrel. .45-70 & .45-90 brass laying there for case length comparison.

I'm pretty sure that's the last bullet Roy Quigley shot before he left for down under.

He said he was going to get a different caliber Shiloh Sharps rifle (a 45-110) and change his name to Matthew,
All so his crazy ex-wife couldn't find him.

But they say she took her faster ship to beat him there and was also looking for her first husband, Hans Gruber.

... and now you know the rest of the story.

At least that's what I heard at a poker game.

Yeah, you're right. And Hans Gruber got around, being a total dk on TWO continents. He was one of the all time great villains when he took over the Takati building, or what ever it was called. I bought three Shilohs in the 1990s intending to sell two for profit which I did. and I chose to keep the plainest one which I liked the most. The middle one here in .45-70 had all the Quigley features except caliber, 30" instead of 34" barrel, and no gold initials on the receiver.
