Shot some Greek HXP last week

Big point of impact change on my 1941 #4 from the IMR 4064 and 174g SMK I had zeroed with. Almost five inches at 100 yards.

Not unusual for different ammo (even different lots of same ammo) to have different poi. Totally normal.

Not just different, but radically different projectile weights.

      Not unexpected.

        ^^^

well no, actually not different weights at all.

HXP claims to be loaded to MK VIIz specs, which is a 174 grain projectile.

the Greek bullet is a standard lead core and bi-metal jacket; it does not incorporate the aluminum, wood or cardboard nose on the lead core to move CG rearward. real MK VII bullets were designed to tumble.

HXP is just a stout loading. This 1941 is a very accurate rifle and when it was zeroed the only brass I had was S&B, not to bad, and Remington, almost not worth reloading, so I had to keep the pressure down with only 41g of IMR 4064 . This rifle deserves more attention that it gets and 44g of 4064 in the HXP brass.

You ever shoot it in the CMP vintage sniper match?

                  sweet rifle!

I didn't have good luck with S&B brass, many separated on the first firing after full length resizing. I've found PPU to be the stoutest brass for my use. Winchester isn't bad. I've had very few HXP to try in .303 but in .30-06 it is excellent.

I have had decent results with HXP in my various Enfields. The HXP holds it's own with the FN66 surplus I have, as well as the Hornady Vintage Match.
PPU on the other hand.....looks like a shotgun pattern. So does S&B.

HXP uses a flat based bullet and PPU uses a boat tail and my Enfields prefer the flat based bullets too. The 150 gr Hornady flat based bullets work quite well for my reloads.

MJ1 I've never tested HXP against other surplus ammo to see which is hotter. Did you get a chance to chronograph the rounds?

My chronograph is my shoulder and it says HXP is stout loading.

I will be trying it in my 1943 next to get another 50 cases of the HXP dedicated to that rifle too.
