    Inherited Handgun Transfer Question C&R?

    Good Day Gents,

I have had my Father's S&W Flat Latch 38 Chiefs Special circa 1956, in my possession since my father passed in 1984. I wish to gift it to my 26 yo Daughter. It has never been on the radar, but I want to do the right thing and register it to her.
Would this be a VOL REG? Family Tansfer?
    Would this be a C&R?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

If you are both ca residents then she does volreg and she needs fsc and must be 21 or over in age.

Does not not need to be 21+. Must be 18 or over. This is the only legal way for a person under 21 to get a handgun in CA. She does need FSC though.

Buying handgun ammo will be a problem though, so Dad needs to give her ammo.

And as noted already, C&R doesn't matter in this case, the transfer is roster exempt even if it was a brand new 2017 off roster handgun.

And do not do VolReg form, do Oplaw transfer form.

Oplaw? I will look into that, thanks.

Yes, Dad has plenty of ammo.

          Thanks for the help guys!

Do Oplaw not Volreg. Form is here or do it online at CFARS
