Where to buy 30-06 Hunting Rounds for M1 Garand?

I know CMP does not recommend normal commerical ammo to be used in the Garand. Is there a hunting round I can buy commercially to use in it? Thanks

Wal Mart, or any gun store... don't go over 180grain.

With a Garand, stick with 150 grain ammo. Try that 180 grain stuff from Walmart and you might be buying a new op rod.

Ive used 180gr no problem... just don't run 100s of rounds thru the gun with it.

For hunting 2-3 shots with 180 aren't gonna hurt it, but DONT go over 180... that WILL probably bend the op-rod...

YMMV, but thats what I've seen from personal use.

150-160gr is a better range, but 180 WILL work for hunting.

You want the harder primers! That's for sure! maybe NRAshooter will pop over here with some advice.

CMP forums might be a good place to look.
