    CMP 1911 update today

This was near the bottom of todays CMP email.
Will probably disappoint more than a few CL3 / COE holders

Note: 1911 type pistols purchased from CMP cannot be transferred to 03 FFL (curio and relic) license. BATF and the United States Army prefer the second background check be performed by a "store front" FFL dealer. Each customer purchasing a 1911 type pistol from CMP will be subjected to two NICS background checks, one the information provided by CMP to NICS and the second the information will be provided to NICS by the FFL dealer in which the pistol is shipped.
    karma ?
The blessings I experience every day are far better than the wrath I deserve.
Thankfully, there is no such thing as karma.
Proof being that if it did exist we would all most assuredly be dead

Nothing new, handguns havta go through an 01FFL regardless of age anyway. Just with an 03FFL, one can cash and carry.
    They gave, so we have.

      Yep.

Trick part is finding a 03 friendly FFL.
I have one that I use for all my C&R pistols just for this reason.

You must have a CaDoJ COE (certificate of eligibility) also. Otherwise it is a dealer sale subject to Kalifornia's handgun roster. This does not apply to private party sales, but now coming from CMP which had to become an 01 FFL to sell 1911's, it is considered a dealer sale. More tricky Kalifornia rules!

These surplus 1911s are all over 50 years old and therefore exempt from the roster...
