    Scope of m44 scout mount?

    Hey C&R guys

I recently got a cheap scount mount for my mosin m44, the pic-rail type that replaces the rear sight

anyone have recommendations for a scope ?

I think its still too far from the shooter to get the necessary eye relief (or in this case closeness)

Any scopes that will allow for 6" plus eye relief ? ideally i wanted a 3-9 power magnification

I'm running a simmons pistol scope on mine.

Holds 0, eye relief is a cinch in 2x. If I zoom in you have to have your head a bit more precisely placed.

Do a search for "darrel's scope mount" or something similar.

Heard it's one of the few that can hold zero.

Darrels is great, but I was on the waiting list for his 38/44 mounts for almost 6 months. I got sick of waiting and bought an S&K, very happy with it so far, and shipped out to me the next day. I understand Darrels is a one man show, and I can appreciate that, but when your project is gathering dust during shooting season, it can get frustrating.

I'd take either one, it's a toss up.

I've used the NCStar 2-7 Pistol scope on many milsurps in scout mount configurations. Yeah, the optics aren't great, but they serve their purpose of helping my older eyes. I haven't had any failures on any of my battle rifles.

Sure, if I could afford it, I'd buy better quality $250 pistol scopes for all my rifles, but since all I'm doing is punching holes in paper, the NCStar scope works just fine.

I have S&K mount with Burris scout scope. They worked very well up to 300 yards (2 MOA @ 100 yards)! Don't make the same mistake I did and go cheap on this! It will just be money wasted...

well the Mosin cost me $100 with a couple boxes of ammo

                            I just don't want to get a $400 scope for a $100 gun....since it a plinking toy...

No need, the simmons will run you around 100 bucks shipped.

Free shipping. The NC Stars work for some people. I'd just hate for it to break in the middle of shooting, and with no rear sight leaf, your rifle is out of comission. And nothing frustrates me more than having a gun I can't shoot when I'm deep in BLM land.
