    California and C&R Licenses

In the highly unfortunate event that I had to move back to a California for work, what is the current law for a C&R License holder and pick up times? Is it 10 days, or would i go home that day with it?

You must have C&R and COE, no wait for C&R firearm if the dealer knows what they are doing

No wait with the C&R and COE, or no wait for C&R guns?

No wait with c&r AND COE. One thing to know is that a PPT transaction results in a system error, and won't allow the FFL to release the firearm to you without the ten day wait. This only applies for c&r pistols, or c&r rifles if you do not have the COE and c&r license. Hope this helps.

No wait for C&R guns IF:
          1. You have a C&R FFL
          2. You have a current Certificate of Eligibility issued by CA DOJ
          3. It is a dealer transfer and not a PPT

If it is a PPT, the dealer must be willing and able to call DOJ for an override, and whoever answers the phone at DOJ must be willing to give it. Otherwise you may the dealer a little more $$ to handle it as a dealer transfer instead.

And you can buy a C&R long gun from a CA resident within Ca face to face with no dealer involvement if you have C&R FFL + COE and the seller is willing. You must register it within 30 days and there is a $19 fee.

You can also bring back C&R long guns or handguns that you acquire out of state, if you register them within 5 days and pay a $19 fee.

When did the Certificate Of Eligibility come into existence? I haven't used my C-R for almost 20 years now is why I ask.

The COE became a requirement for C&R rifles to be purchased face to face 1/1/14 when using your 03FFL.

The COE is basically a blanket pre-transaction background check. And it must be renewed annually, unlike the 03 at every 3 years.

It's going to cost you close to $100 to get the COE. But, only $22 for the annual renewal
