"that have been refurbished back to as close to original issue condition as possible." Sounds like they've gone full Mitchell :-(

      Heavy steel buttplates?

By the way, the proper term is "War Eagles"

Nothing to laugh about. In the chaos of battle those dual war eagles identified friend from foe even at a great distance, from either flank.. Just as it is a fact that our G.I.s hated the M1 Garand because that horrid PING sound alerted Fritz that they were out of ammo. Even up to 500 yards away with mortars and artillery going off.

            They hated those dang Garands!!

Fat Ben at it again. The undisputed master of dry firing and a bottomless well of knowledge. War eagles! Dual war eagles! Stainless steel butt plate! His motto: If you need to go full retard, make sure you go FULL retard.
All of these tomato sticks have been reblued, force matched, stocks reworked (yeah, we sure don't want to see the mess underneath the wood line), sight hoods installed on pre-39 models, blued sight leaf, ground and restamped bolt, shiny smooth blueing even on late war receivers and barrels, fresh triple war eagles on stocks, the list goes on.
These rifles are in the same category as Mitchell's Mausers, sad abominations created for the only purpose of defrauding newbies with evasive remarks about their authenticity. These are no bring backs at all, more likely rescued sporters or built around matching barreled actions using scrubbed and renumbered leftover parts.
Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right. -1984

No Bobby, the correct term is "Door Buster" or, in the original dialect, "Von Buster"

Now, now, there's no need to fat shame. We only sweat shame.
That serial on that DOT44 receiver is just terrible. I seriously stopped watching after that one...

I took a page from Bobby's playbook and posted this on the Gunboards thread:

I personally think there are about a dozen stupid, rich guys who are wannabe "collectors" and are really too dense to do research.

These guys eyeball Classic's website, waiting for the next Ark of the Covenant to be hyped by Sweaty Ben.
Fingers tensely poised over the mouse button, their oyster eyes ogling and a drip of drool perched on the precipice of their lip.....waiting for the chance to own a bonerfide, SS issued all-original door-buster Mauser rifle with double War Eagles(!).

Yeah you are still fairly safe buying a reasonably priced RC. It is the non-RCs that you have to be really careful about. And the Mitchell's refurbs. I have seen a couple of those up for sale at RC prices recently and nobody will touch them.
