    Arisaka registration

I have just purchased a series 0 Arisaka from a fellow Calgunner.
When filling out our lovely Bof 961 form what has anyone done in regard to serial # since they repeat? I don't want something to get flagged as stolen, etc.

Just put series and serial #on form, let them figre it out as to why so much info.

If they reject it you did all you could to conform to law.

I would recommend contacting the DOJ BoF and get an official response. I was in a similar situation with some Persian Mausers I had purchased. The guns were imported pre-1968 and the serials were in Farsi (as opposed to Arabic/Roman numerals) and I wasn't 100% how to report the serial on the BoF. They gave me a definite answer and emailed the answer to me so I could include it with the BOF 961. If it's worth anything, I DROS'd an 4th series Nagoya 7XXXX and my DROS only has the serial # on it.

Out of curiosity, what was their response on how to report the serial number? I had a similar thing happen with cyrillic character in the serial number of one of my early Mosins.

I had contacted both the ATF and CADOJ BoF in this case since I also didn't know how to log it into my bound book. The ATF got back to me first within a day or so and instructed me to convert the numerals from Farsi to Arabic and notate this in the bound book. The DOJ called me a few days after and they wanted to discuss it. I had mentioned the ATF instructed me to convert the serial from Farsi to Arabic for the bound book. The solution they came up with was for me to notate the serial in Arabic on the BOF961 and to include a picture of the serial in Farsi abd a Farsi to Arabic conversion chart in the mailed packet.

Thanks for the replies. I will probably just use the serial# because there is no character before it. I was just concerned that if someone had a rifle with the same serial and a different series that had been reported stolen then mine might get flagged. Pictures will follow, has matching bolt, monopod, aircraft wings, cavalry sling loop.
