    Yugo SKS C&R Question

I had a question about the Yugo 59/66 with the grenade launcher. Can I legally buy one out of state, remove the grenade launcher and bring it back? Will the DOJ allow me to report it as an acquisition and register it?

Yes, I have an 03 FFL and am currently waiting on the COE.

You dont need a COE to go out of state and bring back a C&R handgun or longgun.

Yes, if you remove the launcher and leave it out of state, you can bring in the SKS and register it. Many of us have them.

Yes they will, but don't be surprised when DOJ contacts you and request photo's to confirm that the grenade launcher has been removed before they process your registration.

        Thanks guys!
Yes I know I don't need the COE. Do I have to remove the grenade launching sight as well? Can I just pull off the launcher and leave the barrel with the open threads?
I'm just trying to make it easier, and the wife won't like it if i'm looking all over hell's half acre to find a comp to put on it.
I also know lots of guys have them here but I didn't make the group buy when they were bringing them in on the forum. I also prefer to look at things before I buy them if possible.

I also have another question, can I buy standard cap mags and permanently block them before bringing them back?

        Thanks again guys!!!

You can visit other states and buy magazines which are legal in that specific state. You can modify them while in that state. You can bring in a magazine which complies with CA laws. Just remember it must be CA compliant when it crosses the border.

            Thanks kcheung!
I wasn't sure if I could be busted by DOJ agents patrolling the out of state shows looking for people buying contraband.
I was guessing/hoping it's ok though as Ca. BS doesn't apply in other states.
Looks like i'll be bringing a bunch of tools when I leave ca. for gun shows now!!!
