    Antique Firearms Interstate Step-Mom Gift

So, a deceased family member left me a gift of some pre 1889 long guns and handguns. 1881 Marlins, S&W Russians, S&W 38 HE 4th change; all old, old guns. These are not part of a will, and not a blood relative. Sweet lady was my step mother, married my dad when I was 50 years old..
Can these be shipped via Fed Ex, or is a Arizona FFL to Calif. FFL transfer required?

Not 100% positive on the handguns, but any qualified antique (1898 and earlier) long gun can be shipped to your door

Not valuable enough to drive there. I just may pass on the handguns if it an expensive pain to transfer.

I know BP handguns are fine, so I imagine antiques are too, but I'm not sure

Antiques are not considered firearms. From my understanding California uses the same definition for antique firearms as the Feds. You can ship them the same as if they were books.

Yes, if the Handguns are of pre 1899 made. You can ship them. Rifles can go VIA Post Office. But Handguns will have to be shipped FedX or UPS. Probably next day service on the Handguns.

They must be verified antique under the law. Same model made in 1890, that was still being produced yet after 1898, the latter would be disqualified. Serial number will tell if antique or not, if the model was still being produced post 1898.. Or else FFL or maybe C R would work.

Heck, I am alot further from them than you. I will drive down and get them.

Use shipmygun.com for handguns. You should fly up and get them.

Beat me to it! Shipmyguns has worked well for shipping hand guns for me.

Also might get a local FFL to ship them to you, they frequently get a lower rate than Joe Blow walking into UPS or FED EX. Plus that FFL could put the handguns all in the same box and ship all at once, to your door if antiques!

Antique handguns ship straight to your door as long as they are pre-1898. ANYONE can ship it to your door, no need to use an FFL. They are literally not guns in the eyes of the ATF.

Toss them all in a box, and ship UPS or FedEx.

I would just drive there and back, maybe 9hrs round trip.

Grab lunch/dinner at a cracker barrel to make it worth your while

This plus ya get to see some wonderful scenery Save yourself the shipping headache and just take a drive! I did when I inherited firearms from my brother up in WA a 15 hr each way drive. The off roster handguns WERE shipped to my daughter in another state so she could gift them to me later.
I brought all the C&R's back with me plus 1000's of rds of ammo!
