    Cimarron 1897 copy any good?

Hey all, I've wanted to buy an 1897 in riot configuration for a while and have come across a clean cimarron 1897 copy for $425 OTD. I thought it was an ok deal until I looked up the mixed reviews on it. Does anyone here have experience or knowledge on these guns that could help me decide whether it's worth it or not? Thanks

Some really mixed reviews. I just don't wanna spend the money and have it jam up all the time.

If it cycles smooth with little effort and feeds reliable from the tube I'd get it.
I also know then inside an out and can make em run gooood.
      my signature is worthless

It fed OK with dummy rounds but not as smooth as my Winchester.

I have an IAC 1893/97 made in china. It's not as slick as Great-grandpa's 97, but works perfect and seems to be getting slicker as time goes by.

I've heard that those are greater quality than the cimarron's though. Many say that cimarron will fix anything that isn't functional, but I don't want to spend money on a gun I will have to get fixed right away.

The gun sells new from Cimarron for $480 bucks.

Yeah this was another reason I didn't want to get it. Of course it would be significantly more expensive after transfer fee and tax.

If you decide not to get it and move on to used IACs do more online research.
As I recall, guns made before 2012 had parts breakage issues but later guns are ok. I've seen some SN listings that indicated good v. bad.

I bought a used IAC 97 from a Calgunner which works fine except with Remington birdshot. It won't reliably feed or extract those only.

I wouldn't say significantly. You're going to have to pay the DROS fee with either one. Tax?? Maybe...?

Well the shop with the cimarron has me for $400 for the rifle and 25 for the dros. No tax needed since it's a used item. If I were to buy new, tax would definitely be collected after including the dros and transfer price.

So is the dealer in or out of CA and are you're in or out of CA?? Need to know the details of the purchase?? Lots of different regs to work around... And used or new someone's going to pay the sales tax...

Not if the shop that has it doesn't own it.
