    SKS LOVE...update post #11

    Hi Fellow Calgunners,

My FFFL received the NIB Omega Para SKS I had in the works yesterday. Not mine but looks like this (the bucket kicked me to the curb)

I had him put the brakes on the Kali paper shuffle, so he could add this little guy to the DOJ shake down, an early KSI Paratrooper with neutered bayo lug and rod guides.
Got the pictured SKS today at a local event. It is a 11M Arsenal 26 but has a rebated barrel. Finish is close to new, bore is as new, and all serial#s match (other than the stock if it was replaced). I recall reading something about the history of these cut-down T56s. I thought these originated...

Last Sunday, I met up with combloc coming up from LA on his way to the SF Bay Area, and did a FTF PPT for a '70 Alby. Been working on this one since May. I couldn't ask him to go waaay out of his way, or I would have put all 3 on the same paper work. Quite coincidental, but all 3 SKS have rubber butt pads. I'm doing the happy dance PAX

One Para at the FFL, the Omega, another Para, a KSI, set to ship tomorrow. PAX

The big draw back on an ak for me is that big mag dangling down ....... handles all wrong , the sks doesn't suffer from that

I don't have an AK and only 1 AR, neither have been a draw for me. But I've got a squad of SKSs, although this last go round has me tapped out...unless there's a deal to be had PAX

I probably got more AK than sks , wasn't always that way and sure to swing the other direction before long ......hard to decide what to let go and keep at this stage

After getting over the initial wow factor of AK ownership i found nothing about shooting them interesting. Cheek weld sucks big time. even with a butt pad it was not comfortable to shoot. I guess with a full auto 30 round mag it is good for what it was designed for spray & pray.We can't have those.

I can understand that , even a 3rd burst option ..... but not sure the wow factor would even last long then.
Here I sit bad mouthing the AK , I feel so dirty...............

Just returned from my FFL so I could start the Kali cooling off period, and fondle my 2 new Paratroopers. I'm sooo stoked. The Omega is in fact NIB, and still has some cosmo in it, as accurately described by seller, which is totally cool. An especially added bonus, is that it is cut for a BLADE bayo! Sweetness all around \/

The other Para I believe is an early example. It's a KSI, with both the neutered rod guides and bayo lug ground flush from birth, and the blade bayo slot was filled in with a piece of wood, before the furniture was refinished. I thought I read somewhere that this had been done to a few at first, but then the practice was stopped as a cost saving measure. As the seller detailed in the discription, this rifle too seemed not to have many rounds through it, having cosmo slathered about when he picked it up. He did a thorough disassembly and cleaning but never shot it.

These latest brings my total to 4 store bought Paratroopers, and 1 home grown Tacticool shortie. BTC, K-Sport Hunter (T-86 mount modded to fit the nowhere rail), another KSI, and the Omega. Throw in the fine '70 Alby that just came home, happy me. BTW, my long time FFL only charged me $35 to receive and process both rifles. PAX

I know this is a c&r post, but if you dont like an ak, go shoot a 74! I swear the whole action was originally designed to fire the wrong ammo! That being said, i do enjoy the sks, and can at least attempt 600 yards with it, cant say that for any of my aks

First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.
