    BP rifle assembly question

I picked one of the Kentucky kits up pretty cheap for a project and was thinking of getting started. My only concern is the finishing process on the wood causing swelling and potentially undoing all the fitting I have done. Is this a valid concern? I planned on oil finishing it but I have had bad experiences in the past with over swelling. Any advice on this matter?

I've never had it be a problem. Maybe if you dipped it in a vat of oil ? You'd probably get more answers in the gunsmithing section.

Fit it, finish it, and then check fit again. If it swells.....fit it again.

BTW you should not have an issue with seasoned wood.

alright, thanks folks. The last experience I had was with a Bulgy AK furniture set that 7 months later is still too swollen to have taken the buttplate or receiver on naturally. A lot of fitting went into that.

I am thinking that was a case of Eastern European mystery wood, not a typical occurence.
