SF Bay Area percussion BP supplies

I've ordered a Cimarron 1847 Walker Dragoon 9" and am wondering if anyone can suggest a local source of BP percussion supplies in the SF Bay Area? 2f/3f powder, caps, balls, fillers, that sort of thing.

Track of the wolf on Web, imbert and Smithers san carlos.

Black powder is another issue I believe is very limited due to hazardous materials explosive regs.

Bass Pro and Sportsmans Warehouse carry caps and BP substitutes like pyrodex. You won't find real BP anywhere near the bay area unless you hook up with a muzzloader club.

I guess it'll have to be a smokeless substitute then... Thanks for the pointers! Will check out Smithers, and if then if needed continue on down to Bass Pro in San Jose. Maybe if I find everything I need I'll also head over to Los Altos Rod & Gun and give it a test drive on the tin can range!

FWIW BP substitutes aren't "smokeless", they just stink!

So... I drove down to I&S (I'm in SF) which took about an hour on a weekday afternoon. Unbelievable how bad traffic has gotten! (I commuted to the south bay and peninsula for 14 years, 1994-2008, although most of that by MC.) I&S didn't have anything in stock but do normally stock Pyrodex. Nice store though; I had never been there before. Staff seemed nice. Great source of reloading supplies, even had a decent seeming selection of dies and more.

Instead of fighting traffic all the way to Bass Pro in SJ I went home and bit the bullet, ordered 4lbs of Triple Se7en FFFg and a 1000 pack of CCI #11 caps from Cabelas. $5 shipping and only one $20 haz mat fee for both.

Also ordered a set (6 plus 1 spare) of #11 nipples from Track of the Wolf, along with their recommended anti-seizing choke lube.

Tell me about the commute. A nice store in Pacifica is city arms and from time to time they have some black powder stuff and consignments. thought I would combine a shopping trip with a chance for some seafood and seeing the ocean. at 7 am from Sacto to SF almost two hours on saturday at speed limit when possible. Coming home it was over three hours and never saw the upside of fifty MPH. $31.00 a pound for salmon and made an offer on a revolver and never heard back. won't be doing that for a while. some nice gun stores in the bay area but so hard to get to.

Join a local Black Powder/Muzzle Loading club and you will soon be swimming in supplies.

YES, it's a monster! And I can't wait to shoot it.

Here's a pic of it next to my 1872 Navy for comparison... But it's hard to convey the heft of this thing in a 2D image.

Let us know how the #11 caps work out. I have had better luck with the CCI #10 with my Pietta 1858's

I ran into the same problem when getting into BP shooting. Everybody seemed to have a place, but in the end they didn't have much. Then I went to Sportsman's Warehouse and thought I'd died and went to heaven. If I needed it they had it. The link is for the store in Rhonert Park. Not absolutely sure they have one on the penninsula or east bay...
