Well, you can only do cash-and-carry a 50+ year old long gun from a private party.

With a C&R you can also mail order that 50+ year old long gun and have it shipped to your door. You can also physically go out-of-state and purchase any CA-legal C&R firearm and bring it back (must register C&R handgun within 5-10 days).

And if you add a COE to your C&R FFL, you can also cash-and-carry any C&R firearm from a dealer while in CA. You do have to do the DROS paperwork, but no wait. And you are also exempt from the 1-in-30 day restriction on all handgun purchases, C&R and modern.

not from out-of-state. It is technically legal to have a non-licensed individual ship a stranger a 50+ year old long gun. But you may be hard-pressed to find anyone willing to do so.

it doesn't appear to violate any state or federal law. Now, you may have problems with getting it shipped since many of the shippers require a non-licensee to only ship to an FFL, and do not allow for non-licensees to ship to onther non-licensees.

The refered to parts of 12072 are the ones that normally require you to do a PPT at a dealer, and wait the ten days.
