Persian model 49

[Mustang]

A few years back I won this at an estate auction. It is in excellent shape, but has been lightly sported...some sap filled in the sling cutout in the stock

The model 49 is similar to the Model 30, but was produced in Iran.

Metal is in excellent condition, as is the bore.

The metal looks good. Any thoughts on a restoration?

Doesn't look like the stock was otherwise messed with too much (if at all) save the fill on the sling cut out and maybe a slathering of stock finish. To my untrained eye the metal looks to be all intact. Possibly a careful person might be able to dig the filler out of the sling cut out and patch the scar left by removing the current lower sling swivel assembly? Good looking gun. Although I have never owned one, I have always admired the Persian Mauser's.

Very nice. Fortunately mine is still in it's original form. Yours doesn't look too bad. Only the bayo lug, stock hole, and added sling swivels/incorrect rear band seem to be the alterations. Any plans to re-militarize it? These are beautiful guns even though they were made in Iran instead of Brno
