Sks with side scope mount

hi guys, I have seen some sks photos online that the rifle appears to have side mount for Russian style PU scope. It is very similar to the Mosin nagant side mount. The mount is not aftermarket, it is part of the gun. I wonder:
what is the made/origin of the particular sks?

The SKS with such a scope mount is not particular to any country. That would be an aftermarket, bubba or field mod.
Use this to ID the rifle or post the pics and someone here can do it.

Tale a lool at the Navy Arms' Farmers Friend or Cowboy Companion, see if either one looks familiar. Or some Yugo civil war snipers had them.

I saw a guy at the range with a like new Russian sks and he modified it by removing the whole front site housing and installing a receiver cover scope mount, with a cheap chinese aftermarket scope.

There are several SKS variants that were imported to the U.S. with side mounted scope mounts and relieved stocks to accomodate them. Just as there were SKS variants imported with bayonet mounts removed and stock inlets filled in.

These are neither bubba, nor factory, exactly. They were clever modifications made and marketed by importers. Some are quite valuable to collectors, especially if complete and intact with the accessories they originally came with.

You're doing it wrong.

The cover scope mount can work if you thread the rear hole & bolt it down. There's a thread over at sksboard about this mod.
