    1903A3 Rebarrel

I have s smith corona 1903a3 that I bought at a bargin price , It was sportorized at some point way back in its history . The barrel in is so bad I dont know if it would even make a good tomato stake . I am now looking for the right smith to rebarrel this for me , I would prefer someone local in So. Ca. but if I need to ship it off I will . Any suggestions ??

Yes I have two suggestions actually:

      1) Get a brand new USGI A3 barrel and have a local gunsmith install it. There are MANY unissued pristine condition barrels still in the wrapper available if you know where to go (gunbroker for example).

      2) Get a brand new barrel MADE for you by http://www.douglasbarrels.net/. I just got a chrome-lined barrel made for me for my M1903 Mk 1 Springfield. Can't wait to install it

Douglas barrels is a little bit pricier but hey it's good stuff.

Or, you could but a new GI, RA 43, 4 groove, threaded, chambered 30/06 with parkerized finish, from me -- It is not suitable for a restoration but great for a "sporter". It is 1" short -- If you are handy, you could do the job yourself --
