M1 Carbine Help

So I checked out a standard products M1 carbine

Here are some pictures
What do you guys think?

It's got a type one barrel band
Type one trigger group/safety
"QU" stamped on the hammer
"10 B" on the left of the receiver
"U" underneath the oprod

But I can't figure out the serial number engraved into the bottom of the barrel

That extra number appears to be someone's social security number.

That number range was likely issued in the 1960's

I wouldn't worry about the social security number....you won't see it in the stock....

I just broke it down and took pics of the internals

Perhaps this helps track down the rifle, where it's been, how it got back to the US, etc

Back in the 80's the police used to tell everyone to engrave their valuables with their social security number or their drivers license number.

Definitely a social security number to help identify the gun in case it was stolen. The good news is that no one but you will even know it's there.

It'll be covered up, and this carbine was legally obtained by my ffl
And will be legally sold to me
