If you are thinking of reloading and have no money Harbor freight right now has a 6 inch digital caliper for 10 bucks. it is in a hard case with two batteries. I tested it out on some 223 and 7.62 and it is right on the money. I think if you treat it carefully it will do the job .

I also have a couple -- Fine for reloading - If you need a closer reading you need a micrometer ---

Yeah they work just fine. Just like any measuring instrument, measure several times just to make sure.

Mine has a slipping zero but for $10 I can throw it in the trash and start over.

I have one and use it for everything that does no require precision. It measure just as well as my $300.00 Mitutoyo!

Sooner or later you'll realize the definite need for a micrometer.

The HF caliper is like a Sears car battery...it's on sale 50% of the time.
