    Simpsons Ltd

Are Simpsons prices pretty fixed or do they negotiate if something has been sitting for while?

I've bought from them in the past and I know some of their guns are their inventory and some are on consignment.
Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)

I was wondering the same thing. Some of the prices are way out of line.

They probably have the biggest inventory in the US and I trust their descriptions so I understand they command a premium. My thought is if a gun has sat for a year, they may want to move it.

I agree about trusting them. Their Swiss Rifles were priced right, but $3k for a 1908 Brazilian Mauser? That's crazy.

No, they don't haggle. If you know someone there and have bought from them for years you might be able to negotiate, but they really do not like to discuss deals.

Their philosophy is we know what we are talking about (they do), we inspect everything (which costs them money), and we sell at a price we determine to be fair (it usually is at a price the market will bear, meaning close to it's actual value).

One of the worst things for me in the C&R world is the haggling part. Lots of people need to "find the deal" but are unwilling to do the hard work for going to shows and auctions and estate sales. They just want to lowball. Simpsons is not the place for those people.

Thanks. Yeah didn't want to insult anyone there. I also haven't bought there long enough either.

They are very good, but their prices preclude the "deal hunters". Never had a bad experience with them, as long as you read the description and look at the photos carefully there is really never much to talk about with them.

I have about 7 purchases with them in the last 10 years and everything was spot on.

I got my K31 from them a year or so ago when they had a lot for around $350. It be nice if they could get a few more countries in the miscellaneous to have their own taps. Just have to look to see what they have, might find something good every now and then like anywhere else.

I've bought 2 guns from Simpsons.

Some of their prices are astronomical, some very good and most high market.

I bought a K31 and a CG63 from them in the last year which I felt were very fair prices. They are also great for holsters and accessories if there is something specific you are looking for. I enjoy browsing their new firearms daily.

Ha - I tried, to haggle, then a part exchange, no dice.

$750 for a leather rifle sling was difficult to deal with.

As much stuff as they list daily that's a lot of time and labor between photos, listing, packing, and shipping. I can see why they are typically a little higher. I've been happy with their CS in my dealings.

I asked for a discount from them for a couple of high priced items that were on their website in the past, they replied offering free expedited shipping.

It all depends on the items and location as well. They know their Lugers, K-31's, etc. very well and will (usually) price them accordingly.

Buying other items from them in person is different. I went to SOS with a friend of mine a while ago, he was able to get a nice discount and get a couple of items at a very good price, buying directly from Robert Simpson who himself didn't really know what he had

Most just pay the price and then lie about what they paid when writing on forums.
