Just wait and be patient. They're trying to get caught up on SG and FG back orders. Keep an eye on the site, have all the paper work ready to go and when the orders begin again, beat feet to get your order packet in the mail.

Norco Armory had one on their wall not too long ago when I was there if I am not mistaken. Might be worth a phone call.

I love the CMP but it isn't the only place to find a Garand. I looked on Gunbroker today and there were numerous Garands at the $1K +/- price points.

Reports of depletion of CMP Garands have gone beyond internet FUD and been verified by first hand witnesses. I spoke to someone who was there for a Garand building class and the students were shown the dwindling parts with which to build rifles decent enough to sell.

The secondary market has the predictable opportunist gougery, mostly by people who exploited CMP availability and low prices in order to flip as many as possible. My capitalist mind cannot fully condemn such opportunism, but the Mighty Garand deserves to be in homes of those who love America and consider it an honor to own such a weapon that played a direct role in shaping world history. It is better and more worthy than some generic flippable commodity.

Not the most accurate for service rifle competition, but a must have!

Keep an eye on CMP forums for sale thread. They come up often and most are reasonably priced

My theory is they stated "8 per year" is to avoid causing a panic. When I hear that it makes me believe if they set 8 aside for me and everyone else then there must be a large quantity of parts left.

                      But again, just a theory.

I picked one of them (from CMP) recently and yes the receiver is a little pitted but honestly it isn't that bad, I've seen worse. Plus it has a new barrel on it and it shoots awesome!
                        Here's the thread I posted:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph [of evil] is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke speech of 23 April 1770, "Thoughts on the Cause of the Present Discontents," delivered to the House of Commons.

They're definitely still out there. I've purchased two Springfield Garands in the past month. One from local FFL and getting my second one tomorrow from a member on here.
