    Mauser front sight help..

I have a k98 mauser i recently was given. Never shot it, or owened a mauser before. Its missing its front sight blade. From the research i have done, they make ones of varying heights because i guess they were zeroed at around 250 yards from the factory. I heard there are kits with 3-4 sight blades so you can find one for different ranges, but i have been unable to locate any. Anyone know of a place, or have some blades lying around?

Also, once in, how are they adjusted?

That's not the front sight on a k98, I would say your rifle has been "sportorized". Looks like many standard hunting rifles. Try Numrick, they are real good.

As above, that is an aftermarket ramp. What is the size of the dovetail? how wide is the base? Any makers name on it? Any idea how tall you want? heigth is somewhat related to style of rear sight -
Before spending a lot on trial and error make yourself a jury rig sight out of a tin can - That is not a front sight to be field adjusted - some slight adjustment can be by tapping the sight one way or the other -- How about a photo of the complete rifle? -- my ha-penny

The rifle was sport'ized, but the dovetail is standard k98 size. I just ordered a tall sight from brownells. Its made with extra material so you can file it to desired range.

But was looking for a kit similar to this http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=213703. They are the only ones i have seen that sell multiple sights. That way instead of just haveing one for 100 yards, i could switch out with a 25 or 50 yarder. I guess the brownell will have to do for now.

That would require a lot of sighting in each time you swap out the sights as drifting them to the right spot is not done with a method that's very precise. Benefit of doing that doesn't seem to outweigh the cost in time and ammo.
