    bayonet fuzz?

picked one up from CMP and it has this "fuzz" on the handle that doesn't seem to come off. anyone have ideas? tried using clp, soap, hot water, scrubbing pads, steel wool, and picking at it but nothing seems to get it off.

Take the scales ( the grips) off and file/sand/trim to remove.

Or leave it as an artifact of the composite material used in manufacture. Those aren't just plastic scales.

If you mean the frayed material on the edges of the grip panels, it's probably wood pulp or some kind of textile fiber used in the plastic compound. I've seen this on old table radios and electrical fixtures (which was probably asbestos).

Trying to scrape it away might make it worse and expose more of the fiber. I think it looks fine the way it is.
