Romanian M44

Picked this flame thrower up from another member recently.

Looks to be all matching except the stock which I believe is Hungarian. So I'll be on the hunt now for an all matching example with correct stock

Very nice bore so should make for a great shooter.

Kinda funny, looks like someone forgot the "3" on the buttplate until after it was stamped

It has a Hungarian bolt head and extractor too.

Its still a nice one, its not really unusual for eastern european M44s to have parts from the other eastern european M44s.

The stock is definitely Hungarian. I have read that it is common to find Hungarian parts on a Romanian M44, and vice versa. I would leave it as is rather than trying to make it "correct." Romanian M44 stocks are stamped with the weapon's serial number so finding the correct matching stock is pretty well impossible.

I've been reading up and coming to the same conclusion that the Romanians often had a mix of parts.

I definitely will be leaving this one "as is." I meant that now that I have one, I'll be on the hunt for another Romanian M44 that is all matching with correct stock and then I'll probably sell this rifle when I find one.

In the meantime, I've got this one's all matching Polish and Hungarian cousin's in the safe

Thanks Bobby, the Hungarian was an old Big 5 score for $168 OTD so of course I'll never pay over that now for another one

Thanks Hunt! I believe the consensus is that is was made in very small number - The thoughts are that it numbers less than 1k -

I know the fella that have the next serial number to my gun - One day we'll have to pair them up again -
