The Santa Margarita Gun Club will be holding 2 CMP GSM/Modern Military Course A Rifle Matches on Sunday, 2-19-17.

It might generate more interest in some first timers if they had more details of what a Course A GSM match is. 200 yards only (no need to lug gear back to 300 & 600 and resight at those distances) 5 sighters, then with sling 10 slow prone, 10 rapid prone, and 10 standing no sling.

G=Garand, S=Springfield bolt rife, M=foreign military bolt rifle.

I've shot an Enfield, but which other accurate 30 cal foreign bolts have you seen used? Swiss K31? Others?

Anyone that's never shot on a full length military range, and learned to pull targets in the pit, really needs to add this to your bucket list.

Also included is "Modern Military" rifle. They are open to AR15, SKS, FAL. M1A.

Enfields, Eddystones, Krags, Mausers, Arisakas...probably more that are GTG for the vintage rifles.

Garands, 03s, 03A3s in as issued condition.

There are categories for Garands with some modifications.

ARs, M4s, M1As and other modern military style rifles in as issued condition.

You will need 2 clips/magazines for the rapid fire stage.

If you aren't sure if your rifle falls into one of the categories sign up and come out to the match anyway. If your rifle isn't in one of the categories we'll let you shoot 'out of competition'.
