leather slings

Hi all,

My fiancee purchased me a leather sling for my M1. Have any of you treated your leather sling? I know some people like to soften them up, make them more flexible, but I am still unsure if I should do anything to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I use pure neatsfoot oil on mine. I get it at Tractor Supply in the tack section.

I used something called Glovolium, got it at big 5 it has lanolin and softens the sling up nicely without making it oily, darkens it a bit too.

If you oil it go lightly. If it gets too much oil in it, it will become stretchy--kind of like a big rubber band, and then it's practically useless.

I spent some time in the leather industry, and the best treatment is Farnam's 'Leather New'. It can be found in most Tack/farm supply outlets....
