    WW2 after WW2

A very interesting website about WW2 equipment including small arms used post WW2. Covers just about everything.

Awesome article. Some pretty unexpected usage, like the Bolivians and the M35 Stahlhelm.
    C&R nut.

Thanks smle-man, that is a good article.

The true story I know is extra interesting because of the players involved.

During its struggle for independence the "young" Israeli Air Force used old WWII German Luftwaffe ME 109s that the Nazis had left in Czechoslovakia.

It's covered in this video, Where former US WWII pilots (usually of the Jewish faith) were semi-secretly recruited to help Israel fight for independence flying in German planes and German uniforms with German parachutes etc.

They also bought a lot of K 98 Mauser rifles as well any weapons they could get their hands on.

Good stuff. I've heard that the Moroccan rebels still were using some WWI stuff up till the end of the 20th century.

One of my sons buds father has lived and done business in Thailand for decades. I'm gonna see if he can get me one of those Type 95 Ha-Go in Thailand. He's been a major importer for decades. One with no gun would just be a tractor. PAX

I grew up near Suisun Bay, but I never saw that many ships there. Not many left the last time I went by.

            In the mid 1960's when
I was in high school a buddy got his pilots license before he got his drivers license used to fly out of Sonoma Sky Park and then over the mothball fleet, there were ALOT of ships there at the time, warships and auxillaries. Later the Glomar Explorer was there for awahile, also saw the USS Iowa before she was towed to So Cal.

Also going to Vallejo from Sonoma on old HWY 37 in the 1950's early 60's there were many WW2 Fleet Class subs and DD's and DE's mothballed right next to the Hwy at Mare Island, always enjoyed that ride!

yeah that's all been scrapped by now...hardly anything left there now. gradually over time they mothballed ships slowly made their way to the slaughter houses, as it were.

here in alameda we still have a few ships in reserve next to the USS Hornet. maybe if trump does something catastrophically stupid and gets us into a war w china or something theyll be sent back into service?

Would like to visit the Hornet again before leaving the state. I enjoyed touring her better than the USS Midway. After the docent mini tour we were left to go practically anywhere on our own but that was 15 years ago I think.

I bought this Stahlhelm helmet at a gun show, found in Afghanistan by our armed forces.

Neat find! Now all you need is the front plate that attaches to it.
Had a cousin that worn one of those helmets back in 1918!
