Hi guys, I finally got some range time with one of my Mosin over the weekend. When I broke it up apart to clean it this week and I saw that there was some pretty deep rust concentrated around the tang just below the stock line, I'm guessing it has been hiding there for down there for some time.
Anyway, I applied some CLP and began using a brass brush to remove all the rust. I managed to remove most, if not all, but in the process all the bluing that the brush and CLP hit also got removed. I thought CLP is a bluing-safe solvent? What was I doing wrong so that I don't repeat my mistake?
