can anyone order ammo from CMP or do ammo purchases have the same requirements as buying a firearm from them?

http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/clubSearch.cgi. If you have any difficulty in locating a club, please contact the CMP at 256-835-8455 or by emailing CMP Customer Service. We will find one for you. In addition to shooting clubs, the CMP also has several special affiliates. Membership in these organizations satisfies our requirement for purchase. These special affiliates include: Congressionally chartered veterans' organizations such as the VFW, AL, DAV, MCL, etc. U.S. Military services (active or reserves), National Guard, to include retirees. Professional 501(c)3 law enforcement organizations and associations such as the FOP, NAPO, NSA, etc.

Note: Club membership IS required for purchase of rifles, parts, and ammunition.

I believe all of that documentation is only required for the first order. Once you're in their system, you can order again at any time.

Caldude is correct. Once you place your first order, they keep your records on file. Just use your customer number. They even knew when my local club membership expired. I had to scramble to renew it before CMP would ship my M1917.

If you only have a Garand, buy the ammo in clips. If you have other rifles in 30-06, buy the ammo in cans.
If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous!
If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid about?
