    Improving a Mauser's sights?

I have 3 Argentine Mausers. All with the same open sights that a difficult for me to shoot well. I wanted to change one to a mojo sight, but they dont make one for my rifle. Ostensibly the mojo sight replaces the v notch with an appeture and still functions well despite the distance to the eye from the apeture.

Could I achieve the same effect by soldering over the notch area of the sight and drilling a hole in the same place? It would likely cause me to drop the front of the barrel, so range would need to be adjusted, but othwrwise it should function left to right.

What am I missing? Sounds too easy.

    Don't bubba... just don't...
Maybe you should pick up an FR-8.

Do you wear glasses for everyday stuff? If so, you can't use them for shooting since your daily eyewear script is designed for infinity or the best possible distance vision.

What you need is a script based on the sight radius of your rifle. That would allow you to focus on the flat top or the tip of your front sight post.

Here's also what you may need, google this - Knobloch K1 glasses with iris shutter

Are they 1909s or 1891 Mausers? I have a 91 and would like to put one on mine. I have Mojo on my K31.

You could buy a second leaf sight and solder a redfield type aperture to it. Then you can keep your original sight so it is not permanently altered. And you can go back if it dose not work well.

Let me help you bubba your rifle so you can shoot it and not fondle it at night and rave about how rare it is like some people (collectors/hoarders) on calguns.

Get youtself a square post dovetail replacement front sight sold by brownells and possible midway, grind it 1/16th inch higher then stock sight for a 100 yard zero.

Get a fine/small (.060") round rat tail file and change V notch to a U notch using the front end 1/3 length of the file to widen deepen V notch.

Now go out and enjoy better sights and the shooting experience.
