I made a offer on a 1943 Springfield Garand that was bought in 1990 and never fired.it comes in the box it was sold in in 1990 with salse recept and instruction manual. After doing some reading i am almost certin it was imported from south Korea in the late 1980s. The stock is full of usage dings but no chunks missing. Very dark wood with no stampings. I think the Koreans refurbished it a long time ago. The barrel has the Blue Sky import markings. The metal is green parkerized. No US markings on the front of the barrel near the front sight. The bore is very nice so i think the Koreans re barreled it. It is no beauty queen but the wear is honest . I think i want it. He paid 400 for it in 1990. My offer is 600 dollars.
I think the owner [ a old Korean gentleman ] thinks he has a valuable rifle.
The green parkerizing is kind of ugly, the wood is rough and it has a no US barrel markings. The bolt is SA but a very dark black color.I told him high retail was between 900-1200 dollars.I tried to give him good information and referenced the CMP and gun boards if he wants to find out more himself. I think he will not take my 600 offer. O Well i did not fall in love with it for more than 600.
