    CMP and my thorough confusion.

So, after reading myself into a rabbit hole, I'm stumped.

I'm trying to get set up with the CMP to purchase a rifle (or something else if some stupid legislation gets canned). Honestly, I've always wanted a Garand.

Well, I have all the stuff I need, DD214, birth certificate, Firearm Safety Card, and became a member of the Garand Collectors Association. I'm pretty sure that's all I need except for maybe getting a form from my local LGS for shipping. My brain cramp is coming from finding out if I actually have to purchase a rifle now, or is there someway I can send the info in and get registered/become a member or whatever.

Am I off base? Am I missing something? Sage advice would help. (and yes, I did use the "search function").

Crap, I have had everybody beat this whole internet thing into my old addled brain, I forgot about the old phone call. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
      Thanks.

        Repeat Customers:

In the summer of 2003, the CMP revised the purchase forms and streamlined procedures for repeat customers.

If any item of proof above has expired, you must submit proof of current status with any subsequent application.

every time you order a rifle .... you will send in 4 papers from their website.
            1A , 2A , 3A and 4A

PAGE 2A has the notary part ... that only needs notarized every 3 years ... but page 2 gets sent each time
each time during this 3 year period that you I.D or club membership to an affiliated CMP club expires you must submit an updated one to remain active.
You can do this via email if you can scan your I'D or club card to a computer.
rifles orders are strictly snail mail only.

this part below , probably will have nothing to do with you .........................

An application submitted on an earlier form (dated before summer 2003 or not titled “Universal” will still be processed by CMP, but for that transaction only; it will not be accepted for repeat sales.
