Nice find! I'd leave the sling, too.

The rifle is nice but the sling looks too new as the ends look freshly cut, not battle worn.

With the possible exception of the chu wood, SKS's are practically indestructible. I'd shoot it anytime I felt like it.

it does look odd that the cut ends show no fraying? something used in the field would show more use from carry, the straps look so clean.

More close ups of the sling. Who knows, I imagine there were some rifles that weren't necessarily dragged through the jungle. Looks to me like the sling has been on for a while at least. Bottom line, it is pure speculation. Still glad I picked it up.

maybe the sling was put on the rifle around the time it was captured and it didnt get carried that much, it's possible to capture gear in excellent condition

the soldier that brought it back may have even made the sling himself while in country so he could carry it home easier with a sling.

he could have easily scrounged his base camp for scrap material to make a sling.

Which would go along with the narrative that the sling is possibly an American tractor belt of some sort.

At the least this one will be a great conversation piece that didn't break the bank

Yep, that tractor sling might be a straight up fugazi. I am going to do the OP a solid and trade him one of my authentic legit Chicomblock green slings that go for about $2 shipped on Ebay.
