    Help identifying a rifle

Recently I was helping my family clean out some stuff and we came across this rifle. It was decided that since I am the family gun guy I should have the rifle and honestly I know nothing about it other than it is obviously a curio and relic. If anyone knows the manufacturer, make, caliber, value, etc...it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for the help.

Looks like one of those old Italian Vetterli rifles.

        Italian or Swiss Vetterli.

Yep, it's a Vetterli in the last chambering 6.5mm

Started as single shots, then modified to accept a clip (interesting clips made from sheet metal riveted to wood with a pull string and arrow painted it, evidently they didn't think much of their soldiers intelligence) I have two examples complete with ammo.

The next incarnation was what you have, it was a pretty outdated rifle by then, not a front line troop gun by then.

          Cool collectors item, nice find.

The only markings on it are: the date 1875 on the left side of the barrel, X.6861 on the right side. On the end of the stock, barrel end, there is a 2 (something in between) then a Y. It is noticable that there are other marks but it is not possible to make them out. Thank you guys for all the help so far.
