    K98 Worth

Can anyone tell me where I can look up the value of German K98 rifles? I'm looking for a value on:

    1. Mauser, Obendorf- S/42, 1937

    2. IDF Marked 7.72, Berlin-Lubecker- "237" 1939

    I already tried gunbroker.

    Thanks.

Try posting them here http://k98kpage.yuku.com/ with some pics.

The value will Vary greatly depending on the condition of the Mausers. Things that will raise or lower the value are orig matching #s, good bluing, no wood repairs or damage, clean bores, type of mfg K98K, If they are RC or vet bring backs etc. Try the link thats where I would start.

Is the S/42 a Kriegs Model?

Rough finish on the metal (aside from regular russian handling). Big indicator is a lack of a bayonet lug.

The S/42 will definitely not be a Kriegsmodell. That date is way too early.

                Maybe a refurb/Russian capture, but not a collector's piece.

You can have a 98k made up of parts from many different years.

MrFarb at http://www.latewar.com/ explains Kreigsmodell very well.

A 98k can go from being near worthless - completely butchered mismatched parts to one worth many thousands - a rare coded few manufactured mint condition rifle - bsw comes to mind - I'm sure there are others.

http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6 is a good site for those who want to learn about 98k's and have thick skins. If you expect to start posting there and be treated as an equal - well I think you will see what I mean.

I.E. - If you post a pic of your Mitchell's Mauser and expect to feel the luv, well, ain't gonna happen.
