A post for anyone interested -
After some hunting I think I may finally have found a good scope for the Fg restoration:
4 power Voigtlander made GWZf42 telescopic sight - left had side marked: GW ZF4 62569 ddx
GWZf4 (Gewehr Zielfernrohr 4-fach) ddx (Voitlander) L (Luftwaffe)
The GWZf4 was a late model scope designed to be standard issue to all forces, and easier to manufacture than the earlier Zf4.
L was a Luftwaffe designation - but I believe it could have been for K98k or G43 usage in theory, not just FG42 - there are far too many original "L" marked scopes out there for me to believe they were only for the FG42.
The sheetmetal dovetail mount for use on the Rehinmetal intermediate (F-type, 200 total) and Dietrich-made G-types (400 total), is an SSD reproduction - when the receiver comes back from my 07, hopefully it will fit the Krieghoff (4000 total) mount on my gun, I don't suppose SSD would make it for those two V.rare variations and not fit the more "common" mount, so fingers crossed - (a real FG42 dovetail would NOT fit the Krieghoff G-type, though.)
*Edit - towards the end of the war some prototype dovetail mounts were made to fit all three later variations of FG42, hopefully SSD copied these for my reproduction mount.
BTW - no one knows why Gcy (Dietrich) and Fsz (Krieghoff) made variations in the mount on their G-Type FG42's that were identical in every other way. The reasons have been lost to history/time.
More to follow as the rifle itself is scheduled to return from the shop in October
- it has been a LONG adventure.
*Apologies for the messy chalk application, the engraving is very shallow and I am half blind, lol. It is only for the camera and just brushes off.

This is the original mount that went for $10K or so - too, rich for my blood.

Compared to an original scope in the SSD mount:
