    7,62mm garand info

Where can I find info on my Springfield armory Garand, whether it was rechanmbered or sleeved? I'm having a hard time finding info. The serical, number is 600XXXXXX.

I'm so pumped to shoot these and the x2 Plainfield m1carbine

Next range trip will be the M1 Garand 762, both m1 carbines, my 1944 Tula PU, and my 41 Finnish capture svt-40 and maybe my TIGR

I have a SA Inc 7.62 National Match rifle. It has a 7.62 barrel and chamber. Its a tac driver. As I understand it the older ones (original SA) had a sleeve placed into the chamber. I'm sure there are more knowledgeable folks than I that will chime in. Is yours the modern or older made rifle?

I'm not 100% sure the time frame, I don't think it's sleeved but I can't tell. What I can tell you, is disassembling sucks hahah

You're having a hard time because there is no 600 million serial numbered Garand.

OP, How is the barrel marked? If the Barrel has a "MK-0" then the barrel "should" have a sleeved insert in the 30-06 chambered barrel. If the barrel is marked "MK-1", then this "should" be the 7.62x51 barrel without the sleeve.

If the barrel has no marking on it, we need to investigate further. I won't get into the details but some smiths converted the older 30-06 barrels to 7.62x51 by removing about 1/2" from the chamber side of the barrel. If this is the case, then the Operation Rod may bend under hard recoiling.

          Cheers.

Sleeved Garand barrel. Did you say sleeved?

            Must be a rare one.

By "sleeved" I believe he means with a 7.62 chamber insert/adapter.

OP, is your Garand magazine fed, or does it still use the en bloc clips?

I have owned both. The magazine fed used a M1A magazine.

I even had a magazine converted Garand in 30/06 a long time ago. It used a BAR magazine. Wish I still had it. Selling it, is one of those regrets we all have.

I have an M1 with a Criterion 308 barrel. Everything else is the same as a 30-06 M1 except the bullet guide spacer which prevents 30-06 clips being loaded. I'm still breaking it in but is showing to be quite the shooter.
